Cadillac XT4: Caddy finally gets its compact crossover
Way back at the 2015 LA Auto Show, Cadillac boss Johan de Nysschen whispered that Cadillac would have a compact crossover “in a few years,” hoping to get a piece of that red-hot market. A few years have passed, and behold: the XT4, the car he was talking about, aimed at the Audi Q5, Mercedes-Benz GLC, Lexus NX, Acura RDX and BMW X3. After Cadillac teased the XT4 in Oscars ads, de Nysschen finally showed his new baby at Caddy’s offices in New York City ahead of the New York auto show.
Cadillac says the XT4 wears a $35,790 starting sticker price, including destination, and will be available this fall. The car rides on its own compact SUV architecture and enters a part of the market Cadillac has never been in before. De Nysschen points out that the XT4 is the start of an expanding product range, with a new Cadillac coming every six months from now through 2021.
