Chevrolet’s Bolt EV is fully charged


LOS ANGELES – The Chevrolet Bolt EV electric car goes on sale early next year, starting at $42,795, about which more, much more, anon.

It has already been chosen Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, Green Car of the Year, and is a finalist for North American Car of the Year.

So, what’s the fuss?

You could look at Bolt two ways. First, as a car. Second, as an electric vehicle.

The designers and engineers who built Bolt would cringe at the very suggestion, because they believe the electric-ness of it is fundamental to the car.

Of course, they are wrong, as I will now explain.

First, as a car, the Bolt is a four-door, five-seat compact hatchback. Think Mercedes-Benz B-Class, Mazda5, Kia Rondo, Honda Fit, writ a little bit larger. Read more...
