Smokey and the Bandit movie clips: http://j.mp/1J8vNV3 BUY THE MOVIE: http://amzn.to/sb0sJh Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/1u2y6pr CLIP DESCRIPTION: When Bandit (Burt Reynolds) comes across a police roadblock, he runs from the Sheriff (Jackie Gleason) and escapes by jumping a dismantled bridge. FILM DESCRIPTION: "Smokey," aka Sheriff Buford T. Justice (Jackie Gleason), is the prospective father-in-law of unwilling bride Carrie (Sally Field). The Bandit (Burt Reynolds), a maverick racecar driver, makes an 80,000-dollar bet that he can transport a shipment of Coors beer from Texarkana, TX, to Atlanta within 28 hours. It's important to note that in 1977, it was illegal to sell the Coors brand east of the Mississippi River without a permit; if we don't note that, then the plot won't make sense at times. Already in danger of arrest from redneck lawmen like Buford T. Justice, Bandit furthers his chances at a stiff jail term when he offers a ride to Carrie, who hopes to escape her unwanted wedding to Justice's boy. The rest of the film is one long chase; not quite as subtle as a Road Runner/Coyote cartoon, not quite as restrained as a Three Stooges comedy. Universally panned by critics upon its first release, Smokey and the Bandit reportedly pulled in just under $126 million and led to two sequels. CREDITS: TM & © Universal (1977) Cast: Jackie Gleason, Mike Henry, Michael Mann, Burt Reynolds, George Reynolds, Sally Field Director: Hal Needham Producers: Mort Engelberg, Jules V. Levy, Robert L. 1977 Ford F-150 is Ken Block's Hoonitruck

in Technology, Accessorize It

Uploaded on

It has a V6 and will be in Gymkhana 10 Ken Block has just revealed his latest car in the video above, and it's actually a truck. It's a 1977 Ford F-150, and it's called the Hoonitruck. And actually, it's hardly even an F-150 anymore. For one thing, the F-150's body has been dropped to the ground and is fitted over a custom tube-frame chassis. Powering that chassis is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 related to the one in the Ford GT race cars, and the power goes through an all-wheel-drive system similar to that found in a rally car. The engine is a monster, with its two huge turbos sticking through the hood, and sending boost into a custom 3D-printed intake manifold. Total output is rated at 914 horsepower. There are a variety of visual enhancements to the truck, too. The exhaust shoots out the fenders. It has aggressive front and rear spoilers. And there are custom Fifteen52 20-inch wheels at each corner with actual beadlocks. The tires are a fat 315-mm wide. Ken Block talks a little about the truck after the beauty shots and headline features in the above video. He discusses his history with Ford vehicles, something he told us at last year's SEMA show. He also discusses how it took some acclimation to drive the truck, since it's much heavier and larger than any other vehicle he has used for Gymkhana videos. You'll be able to see Gymkhana 10 first on Amazon on December 7, part of the Gymkhana Files series launching on November 16. The video will then be released on YouTube on December 10.... The latest from BMW is a portable shelter

in News, Road Trip, Technology, RVs AND CAMPERS

Uploaded on

The Designworks department of the BMW Group has designed this portable shelter, in collaboration with the company The North Face. This trailer, designed to withstand the worst possible conditions, is no more than a prototype with which BMW shows us one of the many applications of the great innovation of The North Face, its FUTURELIGHT fabric. The FUTURELIGHT fabric, which The North Face will introduce in its range of textile products, has been developed to be breathable, and therefore permeable to air, but at the same time prevent the passage of water and therefore be completely impermeable to air. The shelter presented does not seem to have any signs of becoming commercialized. In fact, if the most important factor of a portable shelter is that of being able to install it, and use it, in very inaccessible places, and under the most adverse weather, it does not seem to make much sense that it needs to be towed by a vehicle....
